Project objectives:
Supply of potable water to domestic consumers of Gilan province, including Rasht, Khoshkbijar, Kuchesfahan, Khomem, Lasht-e-Nasha, Sangar, Astaneh Ashrafieh, Kiamehr, Lahijan, Siahkal, Langrud, Bandar Anzali. The volume of supplied water is around 165 million cubic meters per year.
Supply of irrigation water for 150 hectares of agricultural lands
Generating of 6.3 MW electric power.

Project Description:
Shahr Bijar Reservoir Dam was constructed on Zilaki and Doaban rivers,35 km far from Rasht. This river is one of the branches of Sefidrood. Drainage basin of Zilaki is about 242 km2 and its average annual discharge is 202 mcm.
Dam characteristics:
- Type: concrete face rockfill dam (CFRD)
- Crest elevation: 219.5 m.a.s.l
- The width of the crest: 10 meters
- The width of the Dam heel: 377 meters
- The height of the from the foundation: 94.5 meters
- Total volume of embankment of dam body: 3955100 cubic meters
- Diversion system: coffer dam and tunnel.
- Spillway type: free flow ungated spillway
