Project Objectives:

• Regulating water Flow in downstream part of the Dam.

Project Description:

The feasibility study of the project was commenced in 1997. Construction of the Dam started after the design of second stage : The Dam was constructed on Asmari limestone formation. Depth of fine aquifer in dam foundation is 45m. The drainage basin of the dam is 27886 km² and average annual discharge of the river at dam site is 110 m³/s.

•  Reservoir capacity: 3215 mcm
•  Power Plant capacity: 480 mw (3×160 mw)
•  Number of power plant units: 3 units of 160 MW
