As we know, the first generation water projects, which Bahansad Company started about five decades ago, are gradually coming to the end of their economic life. Therefore, the protection, rehabilitation, and reconstruction of these types of structures guarantee their more sustainable and long-term operation at a lower cost, and at the same time, avoid the adverse effects of new development plans. This situation is compatible with the standards and criteria of integrated water resources management and sustainable development.
Carrying out studies of comprehensive water plans is another area of Bahansadd Company activity, which is the real need of the transition period from supply management to demand water.

The water sector and water resources development projects are one of the priorities in the Islamic Republic of Iran. Therefore, a large part of the country’s public resources has been allocated to this sector, especially from the beginning of the current five-year development plan and will be an important factor over the next two decades.

One of the most successful experiences of Bahansadd is in the field of rehabilitation and reconstruction of reservoir dams in the country. As we know, large first-generation dams built in the country are gradually nearing the end of their economic or physical life. Therefore, the protection, rehabilitation, and reconstruction of these dams for their sustainable and long-term operation are one of the main activities that should be undertaken. In this regard, engineering services for increasing the height of the country’s two largest dams, namely the Dez and Ekbatan dams, which have been built and operated for more than 40 years, have been assigned to this company.
Studies, design, and executive operations of Ekbatan Dam, which with an increase in the height of about 25 meters, has been able to provide more than 4 to 5 times the volume of regulated water in the conditions before the increase in height, for drinking water and agricultural waters in Hamedan, has been completed by these consulting engineers And is currently in operation. A study and preparation of an executive plan to increase Dez Dam’s height, which is one of the most important and sensitive water structures in the world, is underway. Studies have shown that up to another 700 million cubic meters can be added to this dam’s reservoir capacity at acceptable costs.
Providing project management services as a fourth factor, especially in transfer projects between water basins and large irrigation networks, is another specialized field of Bahansad Company. In this regard, the company is responsible for Gavoshan Dam and Tunnel’s executive management, which is one of the most significant inter-basin water transfer projects and under pressure gravity irrigation networks of Dasht Abbas Eynkhosh and Fakeh. The administrative operation of Gavoshan Dam was completed in early 2005, and the administrative operation of the water transfer tunnel has been completed and is under operation. According to the project’s experiences, Behan Sadd notified the company to provide project management services for another of the largest inter-basin transfer projects, namely the water transfer project from Karun tributaries to Rafsanjan in recent years.
