Project Description:
The Nowsud water transfer tunnel project is part of a larger project to supply water to the west of Iran’s tropical plains. Its implementation provides the possibility of diverting the water of Sirvan River and other basins of Sirvan, including Lela , Zimkan, Kurdi Ghasem, etc. rivers, to the tropical plains of the western and southwestern regions of Iran to promote and expand industrial and modern agriculture.
The design of Nowsud transmission tunnel with a length of 48.7 km is divided into two parts. The first section of the tunnel starts with a length of 23 km from Hirwi village and crosses the Mara-Khel river and reaches the Lela River area. The first part is divided into two parts A and B, the long part A is about 14 km long and the second part, which is under the contract of Water Resources Development Company, is about 9 km long. The second section of the tunnel, with a length of 25.7 km from Lela River starts after the first section and ends after crossing the Zimkan and Kurdi Qasem rivers in the vicinity of Ezgeleh river.
